Our Team
Meet the people behind LeftClick.
Alan Cox
Managing Director
Alan Cox is founder of LeftClick Ltd, New Zealand’s only company specializing in achieving more leads and sales from e-business and e-commerce websites. Alan has been practising customer-centric design for well over a decade.
His no-nonsense approach to website optimization has resulted in staggering increases in conversion rates and award wins with some of the big names in internet retailing both here in New Zealand and overseas.
Outside of work, Alan is a father of three, a keen cyclist, loves good coffee and has trained in barista skills.
Sally Cox
Project Coordinator
Sally started out as an electronics engineer before achieving an Honours degree in Building Management. Since LeftClick started, Sally has been involved in most aspects of the business, and is committed to ensuring that we have happy customers.
When away from work, Sally loves socialising: she helps organise her three children’s sports teams and can be seen on a Saturday morning at various parks in Christchurch with Alfie’s lead in one hand and a coffee in the other. She is also an avid book collector and is learning to play the piano.
Matt Powell
Lead Developer
Matt is a software engineer by training, a designer by inclination, and a perfectionist by nature. Since joining LeftClick, he has worked on almost every aspect of the business, including requirements analysis, user experience testing, conceptual and visual design, implementation, deployment, server maintenance, and coffee provision. His efforts are now focused on developing software to support LeftClick’s cutting-edge designs.
Matt graduated with First Class Honours in Computer Science from the University of Canterbury, but makes every effort to shrug off any negative stereotypes: outside of work, he is an illustrator, actor, improvisor, playwright, director, movie-goer, and dancer. He wears glasses, but they are cool glasses.
Matt’s one really nerdy vice is an inexorable urge to correct others’ spelling, grammar, and typography, which landed him the job of editing all these biographies. It is a sacrifice he makes willingly for a kinder, better-punctuated world.
Daniel Jones
Online Marketing Consultant
Daniel moved to New Zealand several years ago, following his fiancée Amanda here after her OE, and made his way to the South Island in early 2009 after spending much of his first year stuck in Auckland traffic.
Hailing from Wales, a country known for its lush and beautiful countryside, he feels at home in New Zealand, and grew up like many Kiwis enduring sheep jokes from foreigners. He has travelled Europe extensively and spent many years living and working in the French Alps, where he spent his spare time climbing mountains and snowboarding.
Before traveling, Daniel studied computer programming and web design at Cardiff University and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to LeftClick, having working in the online advertising industry for years.
He is a father of two, a keen outdoorsman and computer enthusiast.
Jamie Hamilton
Visual Designer
Jamie is an experienced visual designer, having worked both in multimedia and online for over ten years with brands like Peugeot, Phillips, Diet Coke,Milo, Agriquality, and Egon Zehnder.
You’ll usually find Jamie trying to twist someone’s arm to go mountain biking with him down steep mountains, whipping up a flat white or two for staff and clients alike, or hanging out with his family enjoying good food and good company.
Ken Beatson
User Experience Designer
Ken’s role centres on creating great online experiences for users based on a real understanding of those users’ needs.
Ken joined LeftClick after returning from his (belated) OE. He has worked for 10 years in web roles covering user experience, business analysis and project management in Australia, New Zealand and the UK, and in firms ranging from universities to small internet startups. In 2008, he founded London IA, London’s largest network of 700+ user experience professionals.
Ken has a Bachelor of Commerce and Applied Computing from the University of Tasmania, Australia.
He loves tramping, weekend roadtrips, photography, drawing with ink, touch football and cooking without a recipe.
Sam Law
Online Marketing Consultant
Sam’s area of expertise is in website analytics and SEO, improving the volume and quality of website traffic through search engine and landing page optimisation, pay-per-click advertising and web analytics. Although fairly new to the industry, Sam really knows his stuff and has already gained a wealth of experience and achieved real-world results.
An avid skeptic and gamer, Sam loves conversation on controversial ideas, extraordinary claims, revolutionary ideals and the promotion of science, when not spending time as an Xbox Ambassador.
Logan Newport
Visual Designer
Logan is a visual communications specialist with skills in design, illustration and Flash development. He graduated with a Bachelor of Design from the Christchurch Polytechnic Institute of Technology.
As well as digital graphic design, Logan has a keen interest in more traditional illustration and painting. During the winter, you’ll find him on the slopes; during the summer, being pulled behind a boat; and by night, Logan is a mean poker player.
André Tanguy
Online Marketing Consultant
André started working in film and television production before moving into online marketing and search engine optimisation. He has a Bachelor’s degree from Bournemouth University in the UK, and has worked with a range of corporate clients including E-ON UK, Biotivia LLC and Bruce Clay Inc.
Among other things, André is an avid surfer, swimmer and cyclist and can be found either on the beach, cycling or reading a book in his favourite la-z-boy. He is also a PADI scuba diving instructor and enjoys teaching students about shark awareness.
Alfie
Team Mascot
Alfie is LeftClick’s team mascot, and specialises in wuffs and hand shakes.
His main job is schmoozing clients and keeping the team relaxed. He seems to know exactly when a pick-me-up is in order.
In Alfie’s spare time he likes to go walking, swimming and chatting with hedgehogs.
E61
Advanced Refuelling System
E61 has proven herself to be an indispensible member of the LeftClick team, providing the raw materials necessary to keep the design process buzzing.
E61 always seems to know how to get our creative juices flowing. She has an excellent rapport with every member of the team, and is always there to welcome our clients when they come to visit.
She eats only the finest Fair Trade beans from C4.
